I can't believe it's been such a long time since I posted anything! Today I went to Bellevue House, the home of Sir John A. Macdonald, the first Prime Minister of Canada! It was such a beautiful place, I will definitely be going back.
When you get to the house, you go through this little gate and down a beautiful little trail through an apple orchard. You get a glimpse of the main house through all of the trees.
After going down another little trail, you come to a great little garden! The garden has people in costume working in it all day, adding vegetables and gorgeous flowers!
Leaving the garden, you go up some little stone steps and up towards the main house, which is so beautiful! The house was built in 1848 for Sir John and his wife and child.
The costumed staff is so friendly and helpful! They know so much about the period and the family who lived there, and are so glad to chat about any questions you might have (which I had lots)!
The house is gorgeously decorated from the period, with many items that actually belonged to the Macdonald family when they lived at Bellevue House!
My favorite room in the house was the kitchen, for sure! I felt like I was downstairs in Downton Abbey! I would have loved to have a kitchen like this!
The kitchen leads out to the grounds of the house, which is just gorgeous! I couldn't believe how pretty this house was.
I had such an amazing time today at Bellevue House! I will definitely be dragging my sister to come and see when she comes to visit. Hope you all had a lovely Saturday!!!
